Wednesday

Toerifc, slowly, cautiously, springs back to life.

Over at Adam Zanzie's Icebox Movies, toerifc has been tentatively revived with Adam's pick, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, being the film under discussion. Stop by if you've seen it and join in the discussion.

Monday

So Long and Thanks for All the Fish

Or to quote Aimee Mann's song Nothing is Good Enough:

Once upon a time is how it always goes

But I'll make it brief

What was started out with such excitement

Now I'd gladly end with relief

The Oldest Established Really Important Film Club has run its course and will now, like that old soldier spoken of by General Douglas MacArthur in his farewell speech before Congress, simply fade away. I'm proud of being instrumental in getting this club started but the time has come to let it go. Before the online social networking community exploded in recent months it was a great way for everyone to come together and discuss a movie but now its time has passed. In the last four months of the blog only two movies were discussed as we took December off and the January host backed out. The Club clearly wasn't serving an important enough or compelling enough purpose for those of us involved to make the effort to continue. I myself prefer the spontaneous variety of writing reviews on our separated blogs as we regularly do and commenting on them.

Thanks to everyone who participated and made it so engaging, even if only for a short time. Toerifc is officially closed for business. Thanks for stopping by.
